Hammonton Family Community Center
The Mission of the Hammonton Family Community Center is to link children and families to community-based services. This program and its services strengthen the local community, promote healthy child development and reduce barriers to achievement and self-sufficiency for families.
The Family Center helps improve the well-being of clients and families and helps build healthy communities.
All of our services are free. The Hammonton Family Center is funded through a grant from the State Department of Human Services. Spanish speaking staff members are available.
Services
The Hammonton Family Community Center offers the following services:
- Divorce/Separation Support Group:
Education/prevention/information and referral. Support group for children whose families are coping with separation and divorce. Goal: provide a format for children to address issues of concern. Facilitates within certain school districts though out the year. - English as a Second Language:
ESL program available two nights a week from October through June from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Goal: improve proficiency and employment. - Computer Class Education:
Computer instruction for beginners. Available one night a week for six weeks from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Goal: to improve computer skills and employment. - Recreational Services:
Recreation is offered during the summer months to adolescents. Goal: reduce juvenile arrest rate and improve social and character skills. - Arts and Crafts:
Recreational activities with arts and crafts during the summer months for children and senior citizens. Goal: reduce juvenile arrest rate and improve intergenerational understanding. - Alleviate Juvenile Arrest Rate (AJAR):
Education/Prevention/Informational and Referral. Involves a visit to the Atlantic County Correctional Facility and a one hour lecture on Drugs and Alcohol. Available to juveniles who are at risk of delinquent behavior. Goal: reduce juvenile arrest rate, character building, and social skills. - Family Planning:
Educational/Prevention/Information and Referral. Health education for high school students. Goal: reduce adolescent pregnancy rate. - Comprehensive Emergency Assistance System Application (CEAS):
Information and Referral. Assistance in processing applications for rent, mortgage, and utilities vouchers. Goal: financial assistance. - Home Energy Assistance (HEAP):
Information and Referral. Assistance in processing applications for utilities. Goal: financial assistance. - Food Referrals:
Information and Referral to various food banks in the Atlantic County area. - Stress Management:
Discussions and Lectures on stress, anger, and self-esteem. Facilitated in various school districts in the Hammonton area. Goal: reduce stress and anger and improve self-esteem. - Bullying Program:
Discussions and Lectures focusing on bullying and character building. Facilitated in various school districts in the Hammonton area. Goal: reduce bullying and improve character skills. - TRUST (Teaching, Respecting, Understanding, Supporting, Teens):
A program facilitated after school in the Hammonton area for pregnancy prevention. One weekend with a computer simulated doll. Focusing on social skills, character, self-esteem, anatomy, and relationship building. Goal: reduce adolescent pregnancy. - Mental Health:
Information and referral to mental health providers. - Housing Services:
Information and referral for loan information and Section 8 applications. - PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled), Lifeline, and Hearing Assistance (HAAD) and Senior Gold:
PAAD and Senior Gold programs which assist with costs of prescribed medication. Lifeline assists financially with electric bills. - HAAD hearing aid assistance, a custom fitted ear level or body worn electronic device which can enhance hearing impairment. Information and referral for applications and assistance in filling out applications.
