Dr. Vicente H. Gracias MD, FACS Dr. Gracias completed his medical degree at the University of Utah Medical Center where his interest in critical care and artificial organ systems gained momentum. He obtained his general surgical training at the University of Illinois Metro Group Hospitals, which included Cook County Hospital in Chicago. As a Research Fellow at the University of Illinois his investigations involving cell- membrane signaling and the bio-artificial liver flourished. He completed his fellowship training in Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is fellowship trained and board certified in Trauma surgery, General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He served as faculty at The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine for twelve years promoted to Associate Professor of Surgery and held posts as Chief of Surgical Critical Care and Co-Medical Director of Critical Care at the University Of Pennsylvania Hospital. He currently holds the position of Professor of Surgery at University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and is Chief of Trauma, Surgical Critical and Emergency Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is a successful clinical researcher, has won multiple teaching awards and has authored more than 100 peer reviewed manuscripts, abstracts He is primary editor for the text book Acute Care Surgery- A guide for general surgeon- McGraw Hill publishers. |
